St John’s Church Governance

At St. John’s, our governance reflects our commitment to transparency, collaboration, and faithful stewardship. At the heart of this structure is the Parochial Church Council (PCC), a vital body that helps shape the mission and ministry of our church.

What is the PCC?

The PCC is a group of elected members, clergy, and churchwardens who work together to oversee the practical and spiritual well-being of our church. This includes:

  • Managing church finances: Ensuring resources are used effectively to support our worship, outreach, and mission.
  • Maintaining our buildings: Caring for our sacred spaces so they remain welcoming and functional.
  • Supporting ministry and outreach: Helping plan and guide initiatives that extend our Christian witness in the community.
  • Engaging with the diocese: Acting as a bridge between our parish and the wider church family.

Why is the PCC important?

The PCC is not just an administrative body; it’s a prayerful team that discerns how best to serve God’s people. Its decisions impact everything from the worship we offer to the practicalities of running a safe, inclusive, and vibrant church.

The PCC ensures that our church operates in line with legal requirements, safeguarding standards, and the vision of the wider Church of England, while remaining responsive to the needs of our parish.

How can you be involved?

The PCC is a reflection of our church community, and we encourage members of the congregation to consider standing for election or contributing in other ways. By participating, you play a direct role in shaping the future of our church and its work for God’s Kingdom.

Let us pray for our PCC members as they serve with faith, wisdom, and dedication, ensuring that our church continues to flourish and glorify God in all that we do.

For more information about our PCC or to find out how you can support its work, please contact us or speak to one of our churchwardens.
