Children love stories – especially Bible stories when they’re interactive, engaging and fun!
Open the Book is a Bible Society initiative that began in 1999, and since then thousands of school children have discovered Bible stories, during assembly and collective worship. It’s a three-year rolling programme of themed and dramatised storytelling for primary schools. Teams of volunteers throughout the country use drama, mime, props, costume – and even the children and staff themselves – to present the Bible stories in lively and informative ways.
St John’s Church is part of this initiative, working at St John’s Meads School, with teams of church members as the storytellers.
If you are interested in learning more, and perhaps becoming involved – either as a storyteller, or behind the scenes with props and costumes – please contact us.
