Children are cherished at St John’s, and there are special activities for them during the 9.30am service on Sunday mornings. Through our work with children, young people and families we aim to equip and encourage them in their own spiritual journey and for all to be given the opportunity to experience the love God has for each one of us.
Kim Leach is our Children & Families Leader; this is a joint appointment with St John’s Church of England Primary School, so she spends part of her time at the School.
SUNDAY CLUB ACTIVITIES AT THE 9.30am SERVICE
Children and young people come into the church with the rest of the congregation for the first 10 minutes of the service. They then divide into several groups according to age:
LIVE WIRES CRECHE: for ages 0-3 in the Baptistry (near the main entrance); this is an unsupervised crèche where at least one parent must stay; toys and books provided.
PATHFINDERS: for ages 4-7 in the Pauling Room (next to the Jubilee Hall).
TRAILBLAZERS: for ages 8-11 in the Jubilee Hall.
We also run the STREETWISE group (ages 11 and upwards). This age group remains in the service, but meets on Sunday evenings, 6.00 – 7.30pm, in the Lodge (in the Church grounds next to the Jubilee Hall).
BABY & TODDLER GROUP
This runs during school termtime on Thursday mornings, 10.00 – 11.30am, in the Jubilee Hall.
As a church, we believe that children and young people are important in the eyes of God, and so we strive to make this statement a reality for each of the children and young people we care for. Watch this video to find out about how we make St John’s a safe place for children and vulnerable adults:
